Arlington Public Schools (APS) is planning to build a new elementary school on the Williamsburg campus in an attempt to alleviate overcrowding for neighboring schools. The new school has spurred controversy in the community as it will impact the neighborhood and require significant boundary changes for nearby schools. The Jamestown PTA would like to share a letter that it recently sent to the School Board and County Board. The letter provides eight recommendations for APS based on a survey of our school community, including a recommendation to continue plans to alleviate overcrowding through new construction. We share this letter in the hopes that it will encourage other Arlington school community members and organizations to contribute their views to this vital discussion.
