Get More Involved

Do you want to get more involved at Jamestown? Are you worried you don’t have experience? Don’t worry! The PTA is a volunteer organization so no previous work experience is required! Please consider volunteering for one of the vacant PTA positions below:

1.PTA President: Effective 10/1/12 this position is vacant. This is a 2 year term. Responsibilities include attending 2 meetings a month during the school year (PTA meeting and Executive Board meeting); collaborate with the Executive Board on PTA decisions (usually done via email); and work closely with the principal and staff at Jamestown. This position is a great way to interact with staff and the community and learn more about what happens at JES!

2.Winter Social Chair: This job is one year or longer. Wendy Noe, Fundraising Chair and Auction Chair for the last 5 years is finally hanging up her hat. There is an auction committee already established for this year. The theme and venue are already determined. We just need a leader to help oversee the auction. If you haven’t been to this even, you won’t want to miss this party!

3.Asst. Treasurer: This is a 2 year term. This person will assist the PTA Treasurer, Kiran Pinto. Are you a CPA or finance guru, or just have a knack for business, administration, or managing personal finances? We are looking for someone who has interest in working into the Treasurer role. This job may be done almost entirely from home or work. No particular degrees or experience are required, but you should be detail-oriented, organized, and good at administrative tasks.

4.APS Boundary Liaison: APS is building 2 new elementary schools and as a result new boundaries will be drawn which may impact your home school. We are looking for 1-2 volunteers to attend APS school board meetings and/or community meetings and report back to the PTA.

5.Outdoor Garden Liaison: This volunteer will work with Ms. Runkle on the class gardens. You would be sharing information with classes regarding a “gardening schedule” so teachers and parent volunteers know when and what to do with the classroom gardens. You will be “rolling up your sleeves” and working on the gardens with this position.

6.Reflections Coordinator: We currently have one committee leader for the Reflections Art Contest. In the past, two people have worked on this committee. Responsibilities include: publicizing the contest, collecting the art, having it judged, getting the work to the County/State levels for judging and acknowledging the winners along the way. This committee isn’t overly demanding, but it stretches from September to January.
